Calvary Chapel Flagler Beach outreach for Samaritan's Purse 'Operation Christmas Child' at this year's Creekside Bluegrass Festival was very successful. Hundreds of Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift boxes were given out to people wanting to fill the boxes with gifts for poverty stricken children all around the world. The boxes will be filled with toiletries, toys, hats, clothing and more then returned to Calvary Chapel Flagler Beach or other receiving centers around the county.
Calvary Chapel organizers attracted people to their booth with live Bluegrass Gospel Music provided by Old Guys Rule, the Band and a Free Guitar Raffle for an Alvarez Acoustic/Electric Guitar with a gig bag, capo and picks. The Alvarez Guitar was won by Colleen Byrnes of Palm Coast and will be presented at the 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday, Oct. 18, at the church, 204 Moody Blvd., Flagler Beach.
This year marks the sixth year Calvary Chapel Flagler Beach has had an Operation Christmas Child booth at the Creekside Festival.
The 5th Annual Flagler Beach United Methodist Church Health Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29 at the church, 1520 S. Daytona Ave. There will be a free lunch and door prizes. Services provided will include Medicare enrollment assistance, blood pressure checks, flu shots (some cost may apply), memory, skin, vision and hearing screenings and mastectomy products.
The Palm Coast VFW Post 8696, 47 Old Kings Road N., operates a medical equipment loan program. This program provides used wheelchairs, walkers, canes and more, to veterans and members of the community. The Post relies on donations to continue this program. Demand has increased and the supply of equipment is limited. Members of the community who have medical equipment to donate, or are in need of equipment, are asked to call, Bob Davis at 315-0131 or the VFW at 446-8696.
