The Brunswick Corp. recently announced its intention to sell Sea Ray Boats, one of the 15 brands that make up the Brunswick Boat Group, according to a news release.
Brunswick expects the sale to be completed in the first half of 2018.
“This decision was made after careful consideration and reflects the evolving contribution that the Sea Ray brand has made to our marine portfolio,” Brunswick Chairman and CEO Mark Schwabero said in a release.
Brunswick stated in the release that it will continue to manage Sea Ray, which employs over 400 people in Flagler County, until the sale is made.
Helga van Eckert, the executive director of the Flagler County Department of Economic Opportunity, said the department offered to work with Brunswick’s current executives during the sale and the new owners once the sale is made.
“We don’t anticipate it having a huge impact,” she said of the sale. “Companies are sold every day, and they are looking to sell the product and the brand to another company that would then continue to build and market the Sea Ray.”
Van Eckert said the department wants to help the new owners familiarize themselves with the county and its workforce.
“We want to ensure that we assist them in growing within the community,” she said.
Gary Inks, a veteran of the hospitality and tourism industry, was recently hired at Marineland Dolphin Adventure as the park’s
new general manager and a vice president of parent organization, the Georgia Aquarium, according to a news release.
Marineland is preparing for its 80th anniversary celebration in 2018. The park will mark this milestone with extensive
new programs, events and guest activities.
“Marineland Dolphin Adventure’s 80th year will be its best ever,” Inks said in a release. “I’m
honored to be part of the ongoing growth of this historic attraction and education center.”
