Biz Buzz: Moonrise Brewing Co. to distribute beer in coming weeks

Moonrise Brewing Co., located in European Village at 101 Palm Harbor Parkway in Palm Coast, signed a distribution deal with S.R. Perrott Inc. a few months ago, according to co-owner Benjamin Davenport, which will allow Moonrise to distribute their beer.

You can only sign with one distributor in a certain area. Moonrise chose S.R. Perrott because "they felt like they were the right fit."

Davenport, who is a co-owner along with brewer Vance Tyson Joy and Ashley Dees, said he expects distribution to start within the next couple of weeks. Moonrise will start with distributing their wolf bite brown ale.

"We think it's extremely unique," he said.

Eventually they'll start to distribute other beers. They have about 10 on-top already.

In addition, Moonrise is also a restaurant that doesn't incorporate a freezer. When they moved into the space at European Village, there used to be a walk-in freezer. The owners decided to turn it into a food cooler. They don't keep food for extended periods of time, so it's not uncommon for them to run out of something. Moonrise gets its produce mostly from farmers' markets. The menu changes almost daily as a result.

"We just feel that fresh food is the way to go," Davenport said.
