Florida Hospital presented a $13,000 check to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Volusia and Flagler counties for the Campaign 4 Kids fund, according to a news release.
The clubs — which operate in Palm Coast, Daytona Beach, DeLand, Deltona, Edgewater, Holly Hill, Lake Helen and New Smyrna Beach — provide working families with an affordable, safe place for their children after school and during the summer.
Members are typically the youth of families who cannot afford fee-based alternatives for afterschool programs.
“We are so proud to support our local Boys and Girls Clubs. They are truly making a difference in the lives of the children and families who need them most,” said David Ottati, CEO of the Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties, in a release.
Jim Cullis, a partner at Matanzas Land LLC, announced that the company sold the Matanzas Lakes development to SeaGate Homes, according to a news release.
Cullis and the Gazzoli family, the owners of SeaGate Homes, originally worked together on the development of Grand Haven in the late 90s and have built a strong relationship since that time.
“I originally worked with John Gazzoli, and now I work with his children: Robert, Brian and Laura,” Cullis said in a release.
Matanzas Lakes, located in Palm Coast’s L Section, was originally planned to be used for multifamily housing but was recently rezoned by the Palm Coast City Council for single family homes.
Matanzas Lake will be a 55-plus gated community with 107 patio homes, with a third of the properties having waterfront access, according to the release.
Flagler County businessman Joe Mullins recently hosted “Shop with a Doc,” according to a news release.
Mullins, the founder and CEO of The Mullins Companies, reunited about 60 pediatric burn patients from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, with their doctors and sent them off an a Target shopping spree on Dec. 11. The Mullins Companies raised money for the event and presented each child with a $200 gift card. The children also arrived at the store in stretch limousines and were greeted by Santa upon arrival before meeting their physicians and emergency care workers.
In addition, The Mullins Companies recently presented a $5,000 check to the Christian Learning Centers of Augusta.
The bike shop formerly known as Flagler Bike Run and Fun Shop has moved and undergone a name change, according to a news release.
The shop, which was originally opened at 210 Moody Blvd. in September, is now called Flagler Bike N’ Coffee Shop and is located at 119 Flagler Plaza Drive, Suite 119.
“We started our business in a 700-square-foot space in Flagler Beach,” said Tom Nugent, the owner, in a release. “The shop began to grow rapidly, and we knew we were going to outgrow that location very soon.”
In addition to the selling, servicing and renting of cruisers, road bikes and mountain bikes, the shop also has its own coffee shop.
“Coffee shops housed inside are a growing trend nationwide,” Kelli Nugent said. “Cyclists like to hang out with each other and take breaks during a long ride or after a ride.”
The Flagler County Association of Realtors held an installation banquet on Dec. 7, honoring the association’s Board of Directors, the Flagler County Multiple Listing Services Board Managers and Women’s Council of Realtors, according to a news release.
The association recognized the incoming Board of Directors: President Martin Brabham, President Elect Megan Farrell, Vice President Bruce Vinnick, Secretary Eddie Marcal, Treasurer Gail Cosgrove and Directors Marc Bellapianta, Scott Chappuis, Janet Geddings and Lisa Smith.
The following MLS Board Managers were inducted: Jason Ames, Heather Dalrymple, Charles Duffy, Annette Gardinal, Karla Goodman, Tom Heiser, Memory Hopkins, Kathy Kerr and Scott Parks.
And the induction of the Women’s Council of Realtors included President Dennis Walker, President Elect Doris Dolamore, Treasurer David Alfin, Secretary Maureen Hightower, Director of Programs Karen Farrell and Director of Membership Kathy Davis.
The “Realtor of the Year” was awarded to Marcal of Grand Living Realty and Davis of Southern Title Holding Co. was named “Businesses Partner of the Year.”
A year ago, the city of Bunnell was awarded a REDI grant from the St. Johns River Water Management for a project to extend the reclaim water line in the Grand Reserve Subdivision. And on Dec. 20, the city hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the project, according to a news release.
Mayor Catherine Robinson, Vice Mayor John Rogers, Commissioners Elbert Tucker, Bill Baxley and John Sowell, City Manager Dan Davis, Utility Manager Mike Baldwin, Curt Wimpee of Alliant Engineering, Dereck Busby of the St. Johns River Management District and Junior Hunter from JD Weber Construction were in attendance for the ground breaking along Grand Reserve Drive near the city’s existing reclaim pump station.
Richard DeCeglie and his Watson Realty “Christmas Brigade” helped raise $2,000 to provide for local families in need, according to a news release.
DeCeglie and his agents purchased bags of groceries, including a turkey and trimmings for a holiday dinner, and toys from the children’s wish list.
“Many of the parents, children and families we adopted were so emotionally overwhelmed,” DeCeglie said in a release. “Their cries of gratitude made all of us feel good about what we do for the needy in our community.”
Florida Hospital Flagler honored and remembered loved ones within the community by celebrating the lighting of its Light of Love tree on Dec. 5, according to a news release.
Members of the community joined FHF for the 28th annual Light of Love celebration at the hospital’s south entrance.
FHF’s 20-foot Christmas tree was lit by 1,000 tiny lights, each representing a loved one. With a $5 donation, community members were able to write the name of a loved on in a Light of Love book that was on display throughout the holiday season.
Matanzas High School’s chorus performed and led the crowd in singing “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
