+ Coastmasters club inducts new Flagler officers
Coastmasters, the Flagler County branch of the public speaking/leadership organization Toastmasters, inducted new officers Wednesday, July 13, at the Government Services Building. The ceremony was dedicated to Emil LaFond, 89, who died a few weeks ago.

In the words of Rose Chumaceiro, vice president of Coastmasters’ public relations, “Emil always brought great wisdom to share at our meetings and encouragement to his fellow Toastmaster.”

The inducted officers are as follows: President Pam Richardson, Vice President of Education Karyn Phillips, Vice President of Membership Janice Gussman, Vice Presdient of Public Relations Rose Chumaceiro, Secretary John Brady, Treasurer Valerie Clymer and Sergeant-at-Arms Rebecca LaNasa.

Palm Coast proclaimed April “Toastmasters Month,” and Valerie Clymer traveled to Tallahassee to speak before the Florida Board of Educators, to successfully lobby for Toastmasters programs to be installed in Florida public schools.

Coastmasters was established in 2006.

+ Rotaract of Flagler installed, appoints officers
Mayor Jon Netts visited Re/Max Oceanside June 23 to watch Rotaract of Flagler become officially installed by Rotary District Gov. Lea Stokes, who is also chairwoman of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates.

The inducted officers are as follows: President Kelly Lohman, Vice President Becca Mitchell, Social/Events Chairwoman Jaci Beckett, Professional Development Chair Chris Magnell, Service Project Chairman Tyler Martin, Treasurer James Scott Triplett and Secretary Lauren Dye.

Rotaract, a community service/business networking club for young adults, is an international program for adults 18 to 40. Sponsored by the Rotary of Flagler County, the Flagler branch was founded in 2010 with six members. Today, membership is up to 17. Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month, featuring speakers, discussions and business/career planning.

The club also plans service projects and social activities. Membership is $50 yearly.  

+ Rue & Ziffra opens satellite office on Palm Coast Parkway
Port Orange-based law firm Rue & Ziffra recently opened a 2,400-square-foot office at 389 Palm Coast Parkway, Suite 4, in Palm Coast. It is the third office for the firm, which has sponsored cancer runs and hospital fundraising events and Palm Coast’s Rock ’n’ Rib Fest.
