The 275 planned town homes in a development called The Trails are progressing on Belle Terre Parkway.

According to Curt Wimpee, of Alliant Engineering Inc., 33 acres were cleared for the development just north of Belle Terre Elementary School, with the lumber being sold to a paper mill.

About two miles away, land has been cleared for an Amoco gas station on the southwest corner of Matanzas Woods Parkway and U.S. 1, which is nearing completion. Land has also been cleared for a 9,565-square-foot amenity center for the Sawmill Branch development, just to the northwest of the gas station.
