The long-negotiated bait, tackle and barbecue contract at Bings Landing was finalized Monday night, Aug. 15, with amendments.

“There’s a lot of things that we’re going to restrict in this park setting,” County Administrator Craig Coffey said, “because we want to maintain the pristine nature of the park.” Things like alcohol use and allowable nights for live entertainment, will be discussed.

In the unanimously approved lease, context-sensitive signs must be approved by A1A Scenic PRIDE. As planned, signs will be made of coquina rock to match their surroundings.

No trees can be removed in shop expansions/renovations.

The initial five-year lease agreement, beginning on Sept. 1, includes a five-year renewal option.

Rent, which is set at a base $500 per month rate, will include a flat, $40 annual escalator.

The lease will also include a stipulation that if the bait shop portion of the store is closed for more than 30 days — aside from in the winter months, when operating requirements change — the lease would enter into default.
