The best advice I ever got was that the perfect wave is what you make of it.

About two years ago, I was going to a private surfing lesson with Jamie Ridgwell at the Flagler Beach Pier. After I took a few waves, he came over and told me that I was too stiff and that I need to relax.

“The perfect wave is what you make of it,” he said.

What his advice means to me is to make the best of what you get. His advice put me at the top of some surf competitions and has made me the surfer I am today by not taking bad approaches at waves.
