Four-year-old Cayden Bullock is “all boy,” according to his mother, Trish.

When he fell off his four-wheeler and broke his elbow in April 2010, the break was repaired with pins, and as a result Cayden suffered a staph infection.

The infection failed to clear and eventually turned into chronic osteomyelitis, an infection of bone and bone marrow.

“If you met him, you would never know he was sick,” Trish Bullock said Saturday, Feb. 12, at a benefit barrel race in his honor.

Two hundred participants came from all over Florida and beyond to participate in the all-day event sponsored by the Flagler County Rough Riders.

The event, which raised more than $4,000 to be put toward medical bills, also included an exhibition, two auctions and a barbecue dinner with live music by Captain Nick, Cheryl Watson and Teri LaMarco, David Stone, Shawn Taylor and Tony Neal.

“It’s turned out way larger than anyone ever expected,” said Trish Bullock. “I’m so astonished at how many people showed up.”
