Workers are replacing the pedestrian bridge on Belle Terre Parkway just south of Buddy Taylor Middle School, causing detours in areas near the school and Pritchard Drive.

Custom Built Marine Construction is tearing down the current timber walkway and building a new, 10-foot-wide concrete pedestrian path there, according to a news release from the Palm Coast city government.

Most of the work is expected to end in November, with minor items completed late the following month.

A new swale will redirect stormwater to prevent washouts and erosion, and culverts under Belle Terre Parkway will be lined with HDPE pipes and grout so that they'll last longer, according to the news release.

The city of Palm Coast's Stormwater and Engineering Department is overseeing the work.
