Avelino Parcon Rochino
1938-2021

Avelino Parcon Rochino, devoted and beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed peacefully and was received by his Lord and Savior on September 17, 2021.  He is preceded in death by his wife  of 57 years, Merian Ganzon Rochino. He is survived by his two sons, Avelino Jr., “Jun” (wife Rolita), Avelino II, “Jun Jun” (wife Lori), and four grandchildren, Nicolle, Gabrielle, Nicholas, and Andre.

Avelino was a warm, intelligent, and generous person who cared very deeply about his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings and extended family.

He graduated salutatorian of his undergraduate class at the University of San Augustine, Philippines and subsequently obtained his PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a certified Professional Engineer and worked in the power industry for over 40 years. He also served as an adjunct professor, teaching Power Plant Design at NJIT and the University of Rochester.

He will be forever  remembered for his consideration of others, his gentle smile, and his hearty laugh.

In his spare time, he loved watching sports, especially boxing and tennis, reading engineering and science magazines, listening to Elvis and Frank Sinatra, and enjoying his daily glass of Merlot. He will be forever  remembered for his consideration of others, his gentle smile, and his hearty laugh.

His favorite verse to turn to during difficult times was Psalms 91:

“‘Because he loves me,’ says the LORD, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.’”

He was very devoted to God and put all his faith and trust in Him.
