The following is adapted from a release from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office:

Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 64-year-old man Friday evening after shots were fired outside his Palm Coast home.

Witnesses told deputies that around 7:30 p.m., Patrick Kilichowski became angry that his girlfriend was outside their home at 169 Plainview Drive talking with neighbors. Deputies said Kilichowski exited his resident with a loaded Winchester rifle and began swinging the gun. At one point, he aimed it at the neighbors. Witnesses said the man was yelling incoherently.

Deputies said a neighbor approached Kilichowski to ask what he was doing, and the man raised the gun, pointing it at the neigbor’s stomach. The neighbor took hold of the firearm, moving it away from his body; when that occurred, Kilichowski pulled the trigger, firing one shot into the ground.

Deputies transported the man to the Flagler County Inmate Facility, where he was tested for alcohol consumption. His breath alcohol concentration measured .092. The legal limit is .08.

“This could have had a deadly outcome. We have repeatedly warned that alcohol and weapons do not mix,” said Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.

Kilichowski was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm in public and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

He was being held Monday morning on $22,000 bail. He said it was an accidental discharge of the weapon.
