Kudos to Health Department for vaccine help

Dear Editor:

Jan and I congratulate the Flagler County Health Department staff that run the COVID-19 vaccination program. Our first vaccination was 9:30 a.m. Jan. 5. It was well planned and a very smooth operation from the time we pulled into the Flagler County Fairgrounds until we left an hour later. The paperwork was started at the first stop and completed a couple of stops later. The line of cars kept moving with no lengthy stops.

As promised, we were called back with a date and time for the second dose. This also went very smoothly like the first vaccination. Kudos to the staff that set up, ran the vaccination system and made it work.

Remember the high school swimmers at BTSRC

Dear Editor:

The article highlighting the cost of running the Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club did not totally acknowledge the swim teams from both high schools or the high number of children in the age group swim program. Further, the Synchro Belles are local kids using the pool. Adults exercise by doing laps and do aquatic exercise classes a few times a week. There are also individual lessons being taught as well.

The school system could easily use the facility to augment its physical education program. Would it not be useful to teach basic swim skills to be safe in Florida?

Other issues of paving the parking lot or upgrading lockers and the like can wait until the membership recovers from the pandemic.

This pool is the only place to swim in the cooler months. The city of Palm Coast could partner with the schools to help its citizens have a place to stay fit. Options need to be explored.

Add a traffic light past toll bridge

Dear Editor:

It is imperative the City of Palm Coast install a red light at the intersection of A1A and Camino Del Mar. Coming off the toll bridge and exiting onto A1A is dangerous, and, in the near future, I can see a fatal accident occurring at that location. Making a left turn is especially dangerous.
