PALM COAST — Construction on the six-laning of Palm Coast Parkway will cause 13 red light cameras to come down until the project is almost completed, city officials said Tuesday.
Three cameras have either come down or will come down in the coming days, and another 10 will come down over the next four to six months, according to Cindi Lane, marketing and communications manager for the city.
“The red light cameras will be reinstalled toward the end of construction on Palm Coast Parkway,” Lane said in an email.
City officials expect the project to be completed by December 2015.
Green turn arrow coming to most-violated signal
City officials also said on Tuesday that the Florida Department of Transportation has approved a right-turn arrow (green arrow) for right turns from State Road 100 onto Memorial Medical Parkway, into Florida Hospital Flagler.
That traffic signal will remain green except when the left turn for eastbound traffic on State Road 100 has a green arrow to turn into the hospital, Lane said.
The red light camera at the intersection of State Road 100 and Memorial Medical Parkway is often the most-violated signal. For the week of Feb. 25 to March 2, that intersection had 458 violation events, but just nine citations were issued.
“We have submitted the design, and we are awaiting (the state’s) approval,” Lane said.

There were 2,826 violation events for the week of Feb. 25 to March 2, according to numbers provided by American Traffic Solutions. Of those violation events, 253 citations were issued.
The intersection of State Road 100 and Memorial Medical Parkway saw the most violation events, with 458. There were nine citations issued.
