A 10-year-old Palm Coast girl died in a crash on Interstate 95 on the night of Friday, Nov. 17.

A Ford F150 driven by 31-year-old Thomas F. Rando, of Palm Coast, traveled south on the I-95 southbound entrance from Palm Coast Parkway, according to the report by the Florida Highway Patrol. Rando stated he may have struck an object that was in his lane of travel.

Rando lost control of the vehicle as it entered into the lanes of traffic, crossing all three lanes of I-95 southbound, colliding with the center median guardrail and then overturning. Rando, along with two of his passengers, Palm Coast residents Nichole M. Beard, 37, and Masen L. Beard, 11, were transported to Halifax Hospital in Daytona by ground and are listed in very serious condition.

The fourth passenger, Hannah R. Beard, died at the scene.

This investigation is ongoing. Neither Rando nor the passengers were wearing seat belts, according to the FHP report.
