The Spruce Creek Hawks beat the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs 54-53 to capture the District 1-8A championship Friday, Feb. 5, at FPC.
After taking the lead with nine seconds left in the game, on a Gio Aybar putback, Spruce Creek got down the court and put up a shot that was blocked by Nysean Giddens. But, the ball went straight to Creek's Keyshawn Johnson, who nailed the game-winning shot at the buzzer beater.
Giddens finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Aybar had 13. Devonte Charles also added 11 points with six rebounds, and Gerrod Wagner had four points and 10 rebounds.
