UPDATE — 11:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16
Per agency policy, deputies Joseph Dailey and Brandon Fiveash have been placed on administrative leave following Saturday afternoon’s fatal shooting of a Palm Coast man at his home, according to Debra Johnson, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.

Fiveash was the deputy who tasered Troy Gordon as Gordon, armed with an 18-inch machete, came at him while threatening to injure the deputy.

Dailey is the deputy who fired the fatal shot.

Fiveash has been with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office since 2005 and is a member of the agency’s Special Weapons and Tactics team. Dailey has been with the agency since 2007 and is a K-9
handler.

UPDATE — 9:30 p.m.
Sheriff's Office deputies continue to remain on scene at 61 Brownstone Lane, in Palm Coast, where a deputy-involved fatal shooting occurred earlier today.

The person shot has been identified as Troy Gordon, 32, who resided at the home with his grandmother and another female, according to Debra Johnson, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.

Initial reports indicate Gordon threatened a deputy with a machete. As Gordon approached the deputy in a threatening manner, the deputy tasered him, but that failed to stop his advance.

A second deputy on scene was forced to shoot, and Gordon was fatally wounded.

Both deputies have been placed on administrative leave, according to agency policy.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be conducting the investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY
Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently working a scene on Brownstone Lane, in Palm Coast, where a deputy was forced to shoot a 32-year-old man who had become violent toward his family earlier in the day. Deputies were responding to a possible Baker Act incident indicating mental issues were involved.

When deputies arrived, the man was armed with a machete and carried a Bible under his arm. Family members said that earlier today, the man said it was the end for him. Family members said the man had become paranoid recently and may have been using synthetic marijuana.

The incident began around 4:25 p.m. Saturday.

Another deputy was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler after suffering minor injuries during the incident.
