Flagler County sheriff’s deputies evacuated six homes Tuesday evening in connection with a fire at 20 Woodstone Lane in that occurred just before 11 p.m. and resulted in injury to the resident.
The state fire marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire, which has initially been deemed suspicious.
Palm Coast Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire, which fully engulfed the home. Flames could be seen coming from the roof, according to deputies.
The resident of the home, Harold Pizzetta, 54, was found sitting in a chair in the corner of his fenced yard, where he apparently had been during the fire and firefighting efforts, according to report. He said someone had broken in, set the fire and left.
He was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler for treatment of burn injuries. Firefighters determined there were no other occupants of the home.
Deputies said the size of the fire and strong winds forced the evacuation of houses in the
immediate area.
