A Flagler Beach man was sleeping in an apartment on Oak Lane Wednesday evening when he awoke to two men standing over him holding socks filled with rocks.
“Where is your stash at?” they asked.
When the victim said he didn’t have anything, the two intruders started hitting him, said Dan Cody, chief of police for the Flagler Beach Police Department. The door to the victim’s apartment had been unlocked.
The victim ran outside and called for help. Neighbors saw the two suspects, who at that point fled. One witness pursued the suspects, but eventually lost them.
Flagler Beach police got a call in reference to the incident at 5:23 p.m. They responded, collected evidence and spoke to witnesses. The suspects have not yet been identified, Cody said.
One of the suspects was wearing a red T-shirt and a red baseball cap. The other was wearing a gray shirt.
The investigation is ongoing.
