Seniors in Flagler County’s social services programs have received Christmas gifts through the Be a Santa to a Senior program.
Consultant Kathleen Rivera said the event is a company-wide program hosted by Home Instead, a national company that offers in-home care for seniors. The Flagler County Social Services teamed up with Home Instead to hand out presents to seniors at the Church on the Rock’s senior center on Dec. 15.
Flagler County Social Services also served lunch and cookies to the seniors who attended. Program manager Winnie Costello said the program handed out gifts to seniors in all of the county’s social service programs, including Meals on Wheels recipients and those in the county’s adult day care program.
The county placed the seniors’ wish list items on Christmas trees at businesses throughout the county, and local residents bought the gifts, Rivera said.
