+ Stevens to play softball at St. Johns River State College
Flagler Palm Coast graduate Ashton Stevens signed to play softball at St. Johns River State College, in Palatka.
SJR State is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and also plays in the Region VIII of the NJCAA.
Stevens, an outfielder, made varsity as a freshman and played four years for the Lady Bulldogs. As a freshman, she was the recipient of the Most Improved award. As a senior, she had a .966 fielding percentage, a .486 slugging percentage and a .417 on-base percentage.
As a hitter, Stevens hit one home run, nine doubles and drove in 24 RBIs her senior year.
Stevens will study elementary education.
+ Yevoli helps Tennessee Wesleyan win NAIA World Series
Al Yevoli, a former four-year standout on the Flagler Palm Coast baseball team, recently won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics World Series with Tennessee Wesleyan College.
Trailing 6-5 against Rogers State heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, TWC scored five runs en route to a 10-6 victory and the school’s first NAIA World Series championship. Yevoli, who spent three seasons at Division 1 Highpoint University, signed with Tennessee Wesleyan last summer.
During Yevoli’s senior season, he pitched to a 2.57 ERA in 21 innings with six saves. He had 34 strikeouts and 11 walks for the season.
Yevoli is tendering an offer from the Washington Wild Things, an independent baseball team located in Washington, Pa. The Wild Things are a member of the East Division of the Frontier League.
