The city of Flagler Beach will host its monthly First Friday Music in the Park 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Veterans Park.

Local musician David Lane will perform as the headliner from 6:30-7:15 p.m., with Capt. Nick and Mason’s Rock Camp on the Songwriter’s stage.

This month will also feature Stars Dancing at the Beach, with local community stars teaming up with the top dance instructors in Flagler County for a dance-off. National recording artist Mark E. Walker will act as the celebrity guest judge.

This month’s kid’s activities will include a bubble release, garbage can painting and a hula hoop contest (bring your own hula hoop).

Other weekend happenings are:
Back to School Jam — 10-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Flagler Palm Coast High School. This event will provide all families of school-age children the opportunity to purchase uniform clothing and school supplies at discount prices, and obtain educational information and resources. Local retailers, community services and organizations will be represented.
 

Blood Drive — 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Lowes, 315 Cypress Edge Drive.
 

Jamaica 50th Independence Celebration — 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Italian American Social Club, 45 Old Kings Road N. Hosted by the United Caribbean Cultural Association of Palm Coast. There will be cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by dinner and dancing. Cost is $60 per person. Dress is formal and there will be a cash bar/door prizes. ‘The Skinny on the Skinny’ — 7:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 4, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at City Repertory Theatre, Hollingsworth Gallery, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite B207. An original production written, adapted and directed by John Sbordone, assisted by Diane Ellertsen and Lynne DiCianni. The play centers on our concepts of body image and tackles the difficult issues of eating disorders, body types, relationships and media hyping of ways to lose weight. Cost is $10.
