Unemployment continues to fall in Flagler: now at 11.6%

The April 2012 unemployment rate in Flagler County was 11.6%, the highest in the state, according to the Center for Business Excellence. The rate is down 1.1% since February.

Nonagricultural employment in the Palm Coast metro area (Flagler County) was 19,200 in April 2012, down 100 jobs (-0.5%) over the year. Statewide, employment increased by 0.6% over the same time period.

Government (+200 jobs) was the only major sector that gained jobs over the year. Six out of 10 major sectors remained unchanged over the year.

Information, professional and business services, and leisure and hospitality (-100 jobs each) lost jobs over the year.
