Two young men and a 17-year-old boy were arrested Aug. 21 and charged with stealing from the cars of their neighbors in Palm Coast's B-Section in 11 related burglary cases.
The two men were 18-year-old Brian Cordell George, a Biltwell Place resident; and 20-year-old Marcus Dijon McCormick, a Bunker View Drive resident. The 17-year-old boy also lived in the B-section, according to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office news release.
The Sheriff's Office to a call at 5:32 a.m. Aug. 21 from a Bayside Drive resident who said he saw someone trying to break into his car, according to the news release. The caller confronted the thief, who ran. Deputies came to the area with a police dog team, and arrested the two young men. The investigation led to another home in Palm Coast, where they also arrested the 17-year-old boy.
The 17-year-old had the most charges: He was arrested on 20 separate counts of burglary and one count of grand theft in connection with vehicle burglaries committed over the previous week.
George was arrested on charges of burglary, loitering and prowling and resisting arrest without violence, according to the news release. McCormick was charged with loitering and prowling, resisting arrest without violence and violation of probation.
Additional charges are pending against all three.
“This is just another excellent example of the community and the FCSO working together to combat crime in Palm Coast,” Sheriff Jim Manfre said in the news release. “Although I am very happy we were able to arrest those responsible, I still cannot stress enough the importance of locking your vehicles,” the sheriff said. All 11 burglaries today were from unlocked vehicles.
