After being arrested twice in one week in 2012 — including for being caught tossing paper towels covered with feces into the Walmart parking lot — Deborah Brinkman pled as charged to fleeing from a police officer, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, criminal mischief and driving under the influence.
A charge of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer was reduced to the lesser offense of battery on a law enforcement officer. She will serve 13 months in prison followed by five years of drug offender probation.
Brinkman, 59, was arrested Nov. 26, by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and charged with fleeing/eluding a police officer and willful and wanton reckless driving.
She was arrested again on Dec. 3 after deputies were called to a Walmart parking lot around 3:29 a.m. A witness, who was picking up garbage in the parking lot, told deputies that Brinkman was driving around throwing out paper towels that she had defecated on.
Deputies located Brinkman’s vehicle, parked between two others, turned on their emergency lights to make a traffic stop, and approached it.
While one deputy approached the driver’s side window, Brinkman attempted to run over the other deputy, who was standing by the passenger-side window.
Brinkman drove her vehicle into the patrol car, also running the deputy into it, and fled the scene.
Her vehicle was boxed in at a Golden Coral Restaurant’s parking lot. Brinkman was arrested after damaging three patrol cars and a tractor trailer that had been parked in the restaurant parking lot.
According to the report, Brinkman had slurred speech and was unable to stand on her own. Deputies also said several alcoholic beverages were found in her vehicle, and she smelled of alcohol.
On Nov. 26, Brinkman was arrested after deputies attempted to make a traffic stop and she fled. According to the report, she sat at a red light, smiled at deputies, waved and proceeded to drive off.

Flagler County youth are invited to a “Major League Pitch, Hit and Run” competition at 1 p.m. April 20. at the Flagler County Recreation Area on County Road 13 in Bunnell.
Boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, are eligible to participate in this free competition sponsored by the Flagler Sheriff’s Police Athletic League.
Registration is allowed on field the day of the event.
Additionally, the Bicycle Patrol Unit of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will be offering a bike safety course between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 20 at Ralph Carter Park as part of the “Family Bike Rodeo” sponsored by the City of Palm Coast Parks and Recreation Department.
