A pickup truck driver struck a car from behind on U.S. 1 the evening of April 26, then struck the car again and tried for a third hit before threatening to shoot the car's driver, the car's driver and his passenger told deputies.

The first crash happened at about 6:36 p.m. as the victim, driving a black 2013 Toyota Corolla southbound with another man in the passenger seat, neared the intersection with Belle Terre Parkway, according to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office charging affidavit.

The truck, a blue 1996 Ford F-150 driven by 46-year-old Robert Rene Boudreau, struck the Corolla in the rear. Then it struck the car again. The impact cracked the tail light and dented the trunk.

The F-150 turned onto Seminole Woods, and the car driver followed. The truck stopped at Squash Blossom Trail.

Then it sped toward the Corolla again, and the car's driver "had to accelerate to avoid being struck again by the vehicle," according to the affidavit.

The truck then sped off before stopping in front of a home on Squirrel Place. Boudreau got on a dirt bike and returned to the intersection where the car was, "and began threatening (the car's driver) stating that he was going to shoot him," according to the affidavit.

A deputy arrived at the Squirrel Place home and noted the blue F-150 in the driveway.  Boudreau opened the garage, where the deputy noticed a green dirt bike in the garage, its exhaust still warm to the touch.

Boudreau "advised he was in an altercation with another vehicle in a 'road rage' incident," but denied striking the other car, the deputy wrote in the affidavit.

The car's driver and his passenger both confirmed to a deputy that Boudreau was the man who'd crashed into their Corolla.

Deputies charged Boudreau with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and issued him a citation for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and for careless driving.

A deputy noted in the report that there "were no visible damages to (Boudreau's) front bumper due to it being an older vehicle with a metal front bumper."

Bond was set at a combined $3,000, and Boudreau had been released from the county jail as of the afternoon of April 27.
