Kelvin Smith, a 16-year-old Palm Coast resident, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on New Year's Eve as he rode his bicycle on Old Kings Road.

Smith was riding on Old Kings near its intersection with Farnum Lane at about 7:20 p.m. Dec. 31 when a pickup truck of "unknown model," but possibly a Ford, struck him, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. Smith died at the scene of the crash.

Traffic was shut down in both directions on Old Kings Road as FHP investigators investigated.

The pickup was seen continuing north on Old Kings Road, and the Florida Highway Patrol is seeking information on the identity of the driver.

Anyone with information about the truck or driver is asked to call Corporal J. Rountree at 904-825-5080 or email [email protected].
