The Outreach Ministries of the Palm Coast, Flagler Beach and Bunnell United Methodist churches have teamed together for “It’s Snowing in July,” an effort to re-stock the Bunnell Resource Center.
This food pantry serves 1,500 families yearly, with donations from 12 churches and other nonprofit organizations.
“The vision for this countywide drive is based on the visual impact of hundreds of white grocery bags filled with food items placed in the lobby areas of all three churches,” said Kathy Fotopoulos, director of communications at Palm Coast United Methodist Church.
Filled bags can be brought to the churches at any time during office hours or on Sunday until July 31.
Residents of Flagler County, regardless of religious affiliation, are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items at any of the three churches during July. Canned goods, jarred items and soft-packaged or boxed food items are recommended.
Members of each church will transport the donations to the food pantry for distribution to families in need.
“A few dollars spent at your local grocery store can make a huge difference to people who are hungry,” Fotopoulus said.

+ Christ Lutheran donates to free clinic
Members of Christ Lutheran Church presented a check for $1,800 to the Flagler County Free Clinic. The funds were raised through donations from the congregation and matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Janet Powell accepted the check on behalf of the Free Clinic. Currently, the Free Clinic, located at 100 Moody Blvd., Bunnell, is open two Saturdays per month.
With this and other donations, Powell hopes to be able to open the clinic a third Saturday.
