Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested one Flagler County man Monday on charges relating to cultivating marijuana inside of his Palm Coast home after he reported his house was being robbed, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
Shaune Lawrence, 54, was charged with cultivating marijuana, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lawrence was arrested at 4 a.m. and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
The discovery of the illegal cultivation operation began when deputies were called on New Years Eve to his F-section home, in Palm Coast.
Upon arriving, deputies made contact with Lawrence, who advised deputies that his home had been invaded by two men trying to rob him. After receiving consent from Lawrence to enter the residence to search for the two men, deputies discovered a spare bedroom and a bathroom were active “grow rooms,” containing an elaborate grow setup with lights and chemicals used for cultivating marijuana.
Deputies dismantled the grow equipment from the residence. No one else was found inside the home.
During the search, a total of 110 marijuana plants were recovered that had been removed
from the residence by Sheriff’s Office detectives, who were called to the scene. At full potential, these plants would have yielded 55 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of $44,000, according to the Sheriff's Office.
