A Flagler Beach man threw an empty pint glass at a bartender after she refused to serve him alcohol, deputies say.

Shane Hefner, 23, was arrested Saturday night on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence after the bartender at a Palm Coast bowling alley reported that he called her names and threw the glass at her before leaving the establishment in a pickup truck.

Deputies located Hefner and conducted a traffic stop on him. He said that he made some verbal comments at the bartender and that he intentionally spilled a drink across the bar. The bartender completed a statement saying that he threw a glass at her, which barely missed her.

Hefner, who appeared intoxicated as deputies spoke with him, failed a sobriety test. He was arrested and booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility, where he was later released on $1,500 bond.
