Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 20-year-old Palm Coast man Wednesday afternoon after he posted threats against Matanzas High School students on his Facebook page.

William Hofer has been charged with issuing written threats to kill or do bodily harm. He is being booked into the Flagler County Inmate Facility after being arrested around 3:22 p.m. outside a house on John Anderson Highway in Flagler Beach.

As a result of the threats, three Flagler County school campuses had heightened security throughout the school day on Wednesday. The schools were Matanzas High School, Flagler Palm Coast High School and Daytona State College.

Hofer, a former DSC student, is a 2011 graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School.

In his posting, Hofer said he recently lost a “brother.”

Detectives determined that Hofer was referring to an acquaintance who was killed within the last week in a home invasion in Putnam County.
