Free cancer screenings offered at hospital May 10

An estimated 1.5 million cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in 2012, according to the hospital.

Free skin cancer screenings will be offered at Florida Hospital Flagler 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, as part of the company’s cancer-awareness campaign to run till June.

More than 1.5 million cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in 2012, a number that is continually expected to rise, according to the hospital.

With men twice as likely to develop skin cancer (the most common form of cancer in the world) than women, melanoma kills about one person every hour of the day.

Skin cancer danger signs include mole/skin spot asymmetry, blurred borders, multi-color, large diameter and elevation.
