It will soon be easier for some of those in Flagler County with economic problems to partake of the bounty at the Flagler Beach Farmers Market. Residents who receive help from the Supplemental National Assistance Program, known as SNAP, will be able to use their cards at the Flagler Beach Farmer’s Market.
Zoee Forehand, who operates the market along with husband Bill, expects a surge in business as soon as they get approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to participate in the program.
“We’ve had a lot of phone calls about it,” she said recently. She said she believes there are an increasing number of people in the county using the cards, called EBT cards, because of the economy and the number of foreclosures.
If people have questions about using an EBT card at the market, they can stop by the information booth or go to the market’s Web site: flaglerbeachfarmersmarket.com, Forehand said.
The market is open rain or shine from sunrise to the early afternoon every Friday and Saturday, in downtown Flagler Beach.
