Palm Coast firefighters put out a kitchen fire at a house on Ryecroft Lane on Aug. 2.

There was one person in the house, and no pets. No one was injured, and fire damage was confined to the kitchen and part of the home's garage.

The first report to the Fire Department mentioned a popping sound in the garage, according to a Fire Department spokesman.

When firefighters arrived, light smoke was coming out of the home's roof and eaves. Fire crews tried to enter through the front door, but couldn't because items were piled up inside the house, according to the Fire Department.

When firefighters entered through a bedroom in the back of the house, they found a fire in the kitchen.

Firefighters could not determine the cause of the fire, so the Fire Department referred the case to the Florida State Fire Marshal's Office for investigation.
