Deputies search for suspect who followed middle-schooler

Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for a man who followed an eighth-grader home from Indian Trails Middle School late Thursday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the area of Pine Lakes Parkway and Brushwood Lane after a call about a suspicious person. The investigation revealed that the man approached the girl from behind and may have assaulted her, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

“This is an active investigation and we’re grateful that the female student was not physically hurt,” Sheriff James L. Manfre said in the news release. “Detectives have been called out to the scene and deputies have been searching the area."

The man is described as a white, 30-40 years old, with a large build, brown hair (possibly balding) and brown eyes. He fled the area on foot wearing wearing black shoes, gray khaki pants and a navy sweater with a zipper and a white stripe down the side.

Deputies have asked anyone with information to call the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911 in reference to case 2015-1152, Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
