The Flagler County Airport is one of the busiest of its kind in the state, according to County Administrator Craig Coffey. At today’s meeting of the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners, there are four airport-related items for the board to consider.

The meeting takes place at 9 a.m. Monday, July 2, at the Government Services Building.

First, county staff recommends the board award a ramp-paving contract worth $857,546.67 to Halifax Paving. Construction is expected in the next month.

The next three items are preliminary steps in larger projects.

County staff recommends the board spend a grant of $149,920 from the Federal Aviation Administration to conduct a master plan of the airport. The last plan was completed in 2005, before the control tower was built. The total cost of the master plan will be $166,580, so the FAA contribution amounts to 90% of the cost. The Florida Department of Transportation would also contribute $13,166 (8%), leaving the county with 2% to pay ($3,492).

Another item on the agenda is for the county to approve a contract for support services in a project that will rehabilitate two aircraft parking aprons. These services, including quality assurance, administrative support and drawings, will cost $49,000 and will be covered in the $906,547 grant awarded in January by the state.

Finally, county staff also recommends the approval of a contract to design the rehabilitation of Taxiway C and Taxiway D, at the airport. The contract is for $130,870 and is paid for 100% by the state.
