Thief steals key from unlocked truck

6:30 p.m. 2000 block of Lancewood Ave., Bunnell. Vehicle burglary: A 56-year-old man got home from work at about 1 p.m. and left his Chevy pickup unlocked with the key on the dashboard, just like he did every day. But when he came back out to the truck at about 2:30 p.m., the key was gone, according to a Sheriff's Office report. He searched though the truck to make sure it wasn't inside, but couldn't find it and called the Sheriff's Office. A deputy couldn't find it either, and filled out a report listing it as stolen.

Car burglar steals sunglasses, doesn't bother with wallet

8:48 p.m. 100 block of Bayside Drive. Vehicle burglary: A 22-year-old man forgot to lock his 2008 Volkswagen Passat when he got home the night of May 3, and left his wallet, in the closed position, on the passenger seat. When he got to work the next morning, he noticed that the wallet — which he'd left no cash in — was in the open position, according to a Sheriff's Office report. Nothing was missing from the wallet, but a thief had taken his $70 Rayban sunglasses from the driver's side door pocket and about $5 in change from the glove compartment, and rifled through the car's trunk.
