Clean getaway

2:01 p.m. 100 block of Barrington Lane. Stolen Vehicle: A 61-year-old man was detailing his white 2006 Toyota Solara when he decided to go inside his house for a few minutes. He left the key on the driver's seat, and left the door and trunk open. When he got back outside, the car was gone. He told a deputy he'd left the car unattended for about 10 minutes, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

Cars aren’t gun safes

11:45 a.m. First block of Florida Park Drive. Car break-in: A 19-year-old man left his Mossberg AR .22-caliber rifle in his Buick overnight. The car had a malfunctioning lock, and its windows could be pushed down. When he went outside the following morning, the gun was gone, along with 30 rounds of ammunition he'd left in the trunk. The Mossberg was worth about $300, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

Thief steals debit card, tries to use it at Publix

5:55 p.m. 200 block of Ocean Crest Drive. Theft: A 43-year-old Georgia man vacationing with his family in Hammock Beach left a beach bag under his pool chair at a hotel. Sometime around 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., someone stole it, along with the iPhone 6s, debit cards and $480 cash he'd left inside, according to a Sheriff's Office report. When the man spoke with a representative from his bank, the representative told him the thief had tried to use the card at the nearby Publix supermarket that afternoon. The bank declined the transaction.
