Bobcats, Phoenix celebrate Tropicana Speech winners

The winners of the Belle Terre Elementary School Tropicana Speech contest are as follows: sixth grade: first place, Gabrielle Wong; second place, Izabela Lagocki; third place, Jessica Bispo; fifth grade: first place, Brittany Elman; second place, Grace Ledrich; third place, Kelly Steffens; fourth grade: first place, Kaitlyn Gerhard; second place, Emily Costa; third place, Andrew DeZego.

Phoenix Academy students also competed in the sixth-grade Tropicana Speech contest. For the second year in a row, Valerie Diaz won the contest, speaking on seat belt safety. Class winners are as follows: first place, Brian Curry, Lisa Scoglio and Jayden Lee; second place, Parker Taugher, Sarah Weaver, Tyler Perry and Andrew Asbill; third place, Brady Stens, David Rodriguez, Victoria Jensen and Ralph Aime.

Palm Harbor opens registration
Palm Harbor Academy will host its annual Kindergarten and VPK Round Up 9 a.m. Friday, May 10. Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 can be registered for kindergarten, and children 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 can register for VPK. The school is located at 95 Old Kings Road N.

Bunnell to host wellness program
Bunnell Elementary School will host a community wellness event 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the school.

FUNCH, Families United for Nutrition and Community Health, is designed to get families moving together, understand basic nutrition and go green.

All families are asked to bring a food item to donate to the local food shelter.

Activities will include Field Day-type activities, garden tours, cooking demonstrations, student-created exercise videos and more.
