Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare receives donation from 13-year-old race car driver

Race car driver Harrison Burton — just 13 years old — donated $1,000 of his winnings from the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway last month to Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare, according to a Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare press release.

Harrison is sponsored by DEX Imaging, which donates thirty percent of its profits to charity, and Harrison decided to follow their example, according to the release.

When he asked DEX Imaging’s account representative Cary Frisenda who he should donate the money to, Cary immediately said Stewart-Marchman-Act.

“DEX Imaging is proud to align ourselves with such a great organization like SMA that helps so many people,” Frisenda said in the press release. “We are so pleased that Harrison has chosen to ‘pay it forward’ and donate thirty percent of his winnings from New Smyrna to one of our local charities,” he added.

Competing in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Pro Late Model division, Harrison won two of seven races – including the100-lap event – in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway, and finished second in the division’s overall standings, according to the press release.

Flagler Pines receives five-star rating from U.S. News & World Report

The Flagler Pines nursing home has received a five star rating — the highest overall rating available — in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Nursing Homes 2014 report, according to a Flagler Pines press release.

The report rated almost 16,000 nursing homes across the country.

The data used in the report comes from information assembled by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a federal agency that assesses nursing homes through health inspections, level of nurse staffing, and quality of care.

Flagler Pines was also a recipient of the 2010 AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program’s Bronze-Commitment to Quality award, according to the press release.

RE/MAX Flagstaff sales associates recognized for top production in 2013

RE/MAX Flagstaff sales associates Gail Downs, Tracy Callahan-Hennessey and Bianca Lovett have qualified for RE/MAX Club Awards, which the highest performing RE/MAX agents in commissions for the past year, according to a RE/MAX Flagstaff press release.

Downs and Hennessey are listing experts, and Lovett is a buyer’s agent. They have a combined 32 years of real estate expertise, and have all earned their Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation.

“Their sales volume and transactions in 2013 made them number one in the county in terms of the average per agent productivity,” RE/MAX Flagstaff Broker/Owner Jimmy Millhollin said in the press release.

Florida Hospital Flagler selects EMPros to staff emergency department

Florida Hospital Flagler has selected Ormond Beach-based Emergency Medicine Professionals, P.A. to staff the hospital’s emergency department.

The change goes into effect April 1. Dr. Kristin McCabe, an EMPros shareholder and board member for the Florida College of Emergency Physicians, has been appointed emergency department medical director for the Palm Coast hospital, according to a Florida Hospital Flagler press release.

“EMPros has the highest quality of emergency medicine services available for patients,” said McCabe. “Even though we employ nurse practitioners and physician assistants to assist us with patient care, every patient who comes to Florida Hospital Flagler's ER will be seen and cared for by an emergency medicine physician.”

McCabe currently serves as emergency department medical director at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach.

EMPros has served as a contract partner with Florida Hospital DeLand for 37 years and at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City for 19 years, as well as at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach for seven years.

It employs approximately 40 board-certified local emergency physicians who staff the emergency departments in the three hospitals.

More will be hired to staff the facility in Flagler, according to the press release.

Leslie Van Brink has joined Alliance Financial Partners as a financial advisor, according to an Alliance Financial press release.

Florida Hospital Flagler names laboratory supervisor

Florida Hospital Flagler has selected Lisa Pennett to serve as blood bank/point of care testing supervisor at the hospital and two outpatient facilities at Town Center Surgery and the Parkway Medical Plaza.

Pennett, an Ormond Beach resident who has worked in medicine for over 25 years, will oversee the blood bank and testing performed at patients’ bedsides, like blood glucose level or urine pregnancy tests.
