Flagler’s business women honored

The Volusia/Flagler Business Report and Daytona Beach News-Journal recognized a group of Flagler County Chamber members as some of the area’s most influential women in business for 2015.

Local women are honored each year for “making a difference professionally and through community involvement.”

The following six chamber members were honored at an awards luncheon Wednesday, Sept. 30:

Brandi Fowler, COO, Marketing 2 Go & founder, Emmanuel’s Closet

Joni Hunt, director of government affairs, Florida Hospital Flagler

Robin King, president/CEO, CareerSource Flagler Volusia

Sandra McDermott, owner, Coast Title Insurance Agency

Mindy Miller, president, Flagler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

Lea Stokes, owner/president of Preferred Management Services

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Business Report’s Influential Women in Business issue, the News-Journal selected six more women as recipients of its inaugural Women in Business awards. One of these honorees was Marketing 2 Go’s Cindy Dalecki, who was named Charitable Woman of the Year for her work with the Women's Initiative of United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties and other organizations.

“We are thrilled that seven of our members were recognized for their talent, contributions and leadership,” said Rebecca DeLorenzo, the chamber’s president. “Brandi, Joni, Robin, Sandra, Mindy, Lea and Cindy should be proud of their accomplishments and the positive impact they are making in our community.”

Florida Hospital gives to Family Life Center

Florida Hospital Flagler presented the Family Life Center with a $1,000 donation Thursday, Sept. 17.

Located in Bunnell, the Family Life Center is the only not-for-profit housing program in Flagler County for domestic and sexual abused victims. They shelter up to 32 people, including children and elderly victims.

“We are so appreciative for this donation, as it will help support our ongoing mission to end domestic violence and sexual assault in our community,” said Trish Giaccone, Family Life Center executive director.

“We have a wonderful working relationship with the Family Life Center, which allows us to tend to the complex medical and emotional needs of domestic violence and sexual assault victims here in Flagler County,” said Edilson Goncalves, Florida Hospital Flagler chaplain. “As healthcare providers, we know all too well the devastating impact of abuse on victims and their loved ones. The statistics are far too high; 70 percent of calls to the Flagler County Police Department are related to domestic abuse. These are our mothers, daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, neighbors and co-workers. Supporting the Family Life Center aligns with our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ by taking care of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our community.”

For more information, call the hospital at 586-2000 or the center at 437-7610 or visit www.FloridaHospitalFlagler.com.

Trio of realtors joins forces

A trio of Flagler County real estate agents has joined forces at Real Living Palm West to create the real estate team of Premier Coastal Living. The team is comprised of Robert “Bob” Witty, Frank Sockman and Laurent Alves. Frank is celebrating three years at Real Living Palm West, and, when Bob and Laurent joined the company last month, they created their team.

“We thoroughly researched Real Living Palm West before creating our new partnership,” Witty said. “We found that partnering with them will allow us to provide the back up support that our buyers and sellers deserve, and our diverse backgrounds are a perfect match.”

Witty was formerly with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate locally and has been a licensed real estate agent since 1970. Laurent Alves was previously with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate as well and moved to Flagler County in 2004. Sockman obtained his first real estate license in 1993 in Hawaii.
