Nearly three years ago, a sign in Thai by Thai’s window declared that its last day of business would be Sept. 25, 2014, and it also read: “Hope we will meet again one day.” That day has come.

The beloved local restaurant reopened Thursday, April 27, at 250 Palm Coast Parkway Unit 300 in the Island Walk Shopping Center next to Salsa’s.

When Thai by Thai announced its return to the area on its Facebook page, the post was shared 230 times, received 424 responses and 173 comments.

"I'm very excited to be back," said owner Sompong Banchanurat, also known as "Mr. Thai by Thai."We've always tried to bring the really good stuff for the Palm Coast people, and now we've added sushi.

Banchanurat and his family had returned to Thailand for a couple years, and, according to the restaurant reviews, locals are glad they have come back.

Breanna Calkins gave Thai by Thai a five-star rating and left this comment: “I drove an hour to eat here today. The food was the same great flavor and quality that I remembered! I'm so happy the restaurant has re-opened, and I can't wait to come back. Best Thai food in the central Florida area!”

Chanarith Lach also left a five-star rating and added this comment: “One of my favorite restaurants in Palm Coast! The wait was a little long, but that is expected when it's only their second day of opening. The old manager recognized us, and we welcomed him back.”
